Commercial Energy Programs
EPUD can save energy for our large and small business customers through a variety of energy efficiency measures. We know that not all commercial buildings are the same, so we have tailored a program to meet the needs of most every situation, from a saw shop in Cottage Grove to a planing mill in Coburg. Our goal is to make your business more energy efficient and more profitable. For more information, contact Rob at 744-7402 or you can email him. LIGHTING RETROFITLighting accounts for one of the highest energy uses in a business. Why not consider having your old lights replaced with high efficiency, state-of-the-art lighting? Better yet, why not have EPUD help you pay for replacing your existing lighting? In most cases, new lights will be quieter, provide "better light," and save you energy. Past projects include fluorescent lighting retrofits in offices, gyms, and retail stores-mercury vapor replacements, to high efficiency metal halide, or high pressure sodium lights and dimming and lighting control upgrades. MOTOR REPLACEMENTPremium efficiency motors are perfect for replacing motors that need rewinding, are at the end of their useful life, or are oversized. EPUD offers motor rebates on these efficient motors because of their continued energy savings. TAX CREDITSThe Oregon Office of Energy offers the Business Energy Tax Credit (BETC) to encourage investments in energy conservation, recycling, renewable energy resources, and less-polluting transportation fuels. It also helps reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Any Oregon business may qualify. Projects may be in office buildings, stores, apartment buildings, manufacturing plants, farms, or in transportation, for example. The tax credit is 35% of eligible project costs-the incremental cost of the system or equipment that's beyond standard practice. You take the credit over five years: 10% in the first and second years and 5% each year thereafter. If you can't take the full tax credit each year, you can carry the unused credit forward up to eight years. To find out more about both the SELP and BETC programs, go to the Oregon Office of Energy and click Energy Loan Programs. |
