Bill Assistance

Getting help with your electric bill here at Emerald starts with a call to a Customer Service Representative at 746-1583. We know that at times our customers want to pay their bill, but just can't...because of loss of work, family illness, or other emergencies. Representatives can make payment arrangements for most customers in these situations.

Following are some programs you may consider if you are struggling to pay your bill:

ERAP (Emerald Rate Assistance Program) provides up to $200, spread over four months. While the priority is low-income seniors and disabled customers, at times there are funds available for other hardship situations. This program is administered by the Lane County Health and Human Services Division, the same agency that runs the federally funded Low-Income Energy Home Assistance Program (LIHEAP). They can be reached at 682-3378.

REACH (Residential Energy Assistance Challenge) provides in home energy education and $300 for co-payments. There is a six-month follow-up period and the focus is to complete full weatherization of the dwelling.

HELPING HANDS is funded entirely by contributions from EPUD customers. Funds for this program are available starting in February. If you are approved, a grant of up to $200 is credited to your electric bill. A Customer Service Representative can assist you with the details of this program. WANT TO DONATE TO THIS FUND AND HELP A NEIGHBOR HEAT THEIR HOME? Call 746-1583 to contribute, OR, send your check specifying the donation is for "Helping Hands" to EPUD, 33733 Seavey Loop Road, Eugene, OR 97405

Equal Payment Plan: Would paying the same amount each month make it easier to budget for your bill? If so, call EPUD at 746-1583 and get signed up for our Equal Payment Plan. We average out your bills throughout the year, so your payments stay level. This can spread your high usage winter months throughout the year, and make for easier payment.
