Stop Metal Theft in Your Community!

Metal theft is a problem affecting everyone in our communities. Local utilities in the Willamette Valley have spent more than $500,000 in the past two years repairing damage caused by metal thieves. For more information on specific thefts at EPUD, read our release here. The cost of these thefts is inevitably passed along to the customer, making us all pay for the crimes of a few.

EPUD belongs to the local Joint Utility/Public Agency Metal Theft Group that meets on a quarterly basis to address metal thefts in our communities. In addition, EPUD is working to encourage lawmakers to draft legislation in Oregon which would make it harder for thieves to profit from this type of theft.

WE NEED YOUR HELP!

• If you see a theft in progress, Call 911 to report it.
• Report any suspicious collections of scrap metal to the Wire Watch Hotline at 1-800-333-8328. Rewards of $1000 are available for tips resulting in an arrest.
